I attended the #PetesDragonEvent courtesy of Disney and all of my expenses were covered. However, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own!
My First Movie Premiere During the #PetesDragonEvent
I shared a few weeks ago about the wonderful opportunity I was given to attend the Movie Premiere of Pete’s Dragon (and more) this week in LA. The Red Carpet Premiere (or in this case – Green Carpet) and party was last night and I can’t wait to share the amazing excitement of my first movie premiere. I don’t know that I can completely put into words the emotions and energy that is felt but I am going to try. Plus I have photos of the event to share with you to also help enjoy the experience.
Being invited to attend the premiere for Pete’s Dragon was a dream come true for me for a few reasons. I have never been to a movie premiere, I have never been to Los Angeles, and Pete’s Dragon is my favorite Disney movie. I could not wait to see this remigning of the popular classic come to life. Plus who doesn’t like a chance to dress up and enjoy a night on the town.
I was blessed to attend this event with an amazing group of bloggers. I met new friends and finally had a chance to meet online friends in person. A super fun experience like this needs to be shared with friends!
Before the movie premiere, we attended a pre-party at the Roosevelt Hotel. It was full of super fun activities, music, and delicious eats. One of the favorite activities was getting our pictures taken with Elliot (thanks to a little Disney green screen magic.)
After the party we headed down the green carpet from the Roosevelt Hotel to the famous El Capitan Theatre. The entire block is shut down and there are people everywhere looking for a glimpse of their favorite celebrity. The feeling is electric and it is almost impossible to take it all in. I could probably do it over again 100 times and still miss out on some aspects.
The green carpet ended at the doors to the El Capitan Theatre. The El Capitan Theatre opened in 1926 as a live action theater and showed its first film (Citizen Kane) in May 1941. When Disney took over in 1991, they remodeled it so that it looked like it did in 1926. The El Capitan is a one screen movie theatre and before the movie premiere we were treated to Disney music played on a beautiful organ, named Ethel. We came back for a tour of Ethel on Tuesday and were able to witness the introduction/curtain opening they will be doing before every showing of Pete’s Dragon.
It was so incredible to watch Pete’s Dragon in a theatre where so many celebrities (old and new) have performed (on and off-screen.) The movie is incredible and they have done a terrific job reimagining Pete’s Dragon. I was not disappointed at the movie premiere and can’t wait to go back and see it with family when it is released this Friday, August 12th. I will have my full review of Pete’s Dragon tommorrow so make sure to come back to read it.
The trailer has shown us a lot of amazing things tidbits from Pete’s Dragon but it isn’t until seeing everything together that you can truly feel the emotion of Pete & Elliotts journey to find family. This is something that we can all relate to.
The evening was over all too quickly but the energy and excitement was not gone when we exited the theater. The streets were still full of fans waiting to glimpse celebrities and soak in the excitement of this tremendous movie premiere. The experience is one that I won’t forget and I hope that one day in the future I will get to experience it again.
