Live on the Edge at Go Ape- Stony Creek MetroPark
There is something about the first signs of Spring that makes everyone want to race outdoors and experience all the nature has to offer. After a rough winter in Michigan, it is time to get out and enjoy the beauty that nature has to offer and one way to do that is by experiencing it up in the treetops.
You do not have to be a monkey, bird, or wild animal to take in a view from the treetops thanks to GO APE! Here you can live on the edge and take on a whole new adventure full of fun and challenges with their 2-3 hour journey that goes beyond zip-lining. Here you will get to experience suspended obstacles, Tarzan swings, and of course the infamous zip lines all with an incredible view inside Stony Creek MetroPark.
Before they closed last season, we sent two of our own to Go Ape-Stony Creek MetroPark to try it out for themselves. They planned their visit around a date night because as young parents they don’t have many opportunities where it is just the two of them. They happily reported that this is a great date night activity as it allows you to spend time together talking but also has excitement with the many obstacles the course brings your way. Plus if you date is bothering you, just zip-line away! 😛
If you are worried that you won’t know what to do – don’t be. Before everyone starts the course they are given 30 minutes of instruction and the course is monitored by instructors who are there to offer guidance and encouragement as needed. They are there to make sure that you have fun through out the course while staying safe.
The course measures 2,970 feet long and the highest platform is 50 feet up in the air. Test your skills with the longest crossing of 71 feet but relax as you zip down the longest zip at 609 feet. To see a little of the course in action check out this great video highlighting some of the Go Ape! Stony Creek MetroPark course.
The course is a lot of fun as we learned from our fearless duo and is perfect for newbies as well as those that have experience. If you are visiting with a group and someone wants to watch from below, they are more than welcome to for no cost as there are plenty of trails to walk and observe those swinging from the trees above you.
When our duo finished the course, they were ready to set a date to visit again as it was so much fun. This is something that they said they could imagine doing several times a year. Plus the location in Stony Creek MetroPark makes it an optimal place for a day out with family and friends.
