Family Fun During Our Michigan Adventures
The month of March has been full of Michigan Adventures for our family. Since we moved to Tennessee last year we had not been back for an extended visit. My daughter and I decided to surprise my parents and plan a trip for Easter. Well since our lives are always crazy our 5 day trip turned into a 3 week adventure. My husband graciously offered to stay at home (to take care of our furry family members) so that we could go. If the planning wasn’t crazy enough at the last minute we left three days early and truly enjoyed every second of our crazy busy schedule.
Since we only have one vehicle,my sister and her boyfriend met us half-way between Michigan and Tennessee to take us the rest of the way. Leaving my husband without a vehicle for three weeks wasn’t on his bucket list of things to experience. This did help break up a long car ride and provided a perfect stop for lunch.
One of the highlights of our visit was finally getting to meet my niece who was born in January. I did miss the rest of my family but it had been killing me not to be able to hold the little bundle of sweetness. Pictures and Skype were not enough for this aunt and we arrived with plenty of presents in tow.
I really felt my age during the trip as it has been 12 years since my daughter was a baby. My niece made sure to keep me busy and provided me with enough snuggles and stinky diapers to last me a few months. It was amazing watching her grow during the three weeks we were there and we enjoyed plenty of shopping trips to keep her closet full till I return.
During our visit we also got to visit several cool places in the Metro Detroit area. The first place we visited to kick off our Michigan Adventures was a family trip to SEA Life Aquarium Michigan.
We also enjoyed a delicious lunch at Buddy’s Pizza in Auburn Hills. It is a short drive from there to Great Lakes Crossing where Sea Life Aquarium is located. They have super delicious food in a great casual atmosphere and are Detroit’s #1 Square Pizza.
In between spending time visiting with family we also celebrated my cousin’s eldest son’s upcoming wedding at their wedding shower. This didn’t help make me feel any younger as I remember changing his diapers when he was a baby. I am still trying to figure out where the time went.
While we were in Michigan, LEGOLAND Discovery Center opened up their newest location in Auburn Hills. We were invited to be there for the grand opening and get a sneak peek at this new attraction. It was a blast and full of fun for kids of all ages.
We also had more hands on learning fun at the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum. This was just as much for me as it was for my daughter. They have stuff for kids of all ages and even a dedicated area for kids under 4.
While in Ann Arbor we had to check out the famous Zingerman’s Roadhouse. Just one of the Zingerman’s many establishments in the Ann Arbor area. I still can’t believe I lived all those years in Michigan and never had their amazing food.
My Michigan Adventures would not have been complete with a crazy family Easter dinner and a girl’s night out with my mom and family friend to Painting With a Twist. A new location opened up in Chesterfield and we were invited to attend the grand opening celebration. This was our first time and we had a blast putting our lack of artistic abilities to the test.
I can truly say this trip was full of laughs, fun, and memories that will last a lifetime. Over the next week, I will be sharing with you a look inside the fun places we visited during our Michigan Adventures. Make sure to check back every day to discover a new place to add to your bucket list of places to visit.
