Eggo Waffle Bar & Strawberry Shortcake Waffle Recipe
I love waffles and think they should be enjoyed any time of the day. They are so versatile and don’t have to be relegated to the breakfast table. Lunch is always more fun when you skip the bread and use the waffles as the outside of your tasty PB&J. Plus who doesn’t like using them for a savory meal by serving them alongside some nice fried chicken and gravy for dinner.
However, my favorite time of the day to use them is dessert time and the perfect waffle dessert for me is a waffle sundae with my twist on a Strawberry Shortcake.
The warm waffle is the perfect base for a delicious sundae. Now, before you start to lecture me about how that is what waffle bowls are for, let me stop you. Waffle bowls don’t have anything on a real waffle. Simply because a waffle bowl does not have the soft center to compliment the crisp outside. Nor does it have an abundance of tiny crevices just waiting to gather your delicious toppings so you can enjoy the delicious waffle taste in every bite.
That is why the perfect dessert sundae starts with a delicious Kellogg’s Eggo Homestyle Waffles. The Eggo Homestyle is my waffle of choice since so I moved out (many moons ago) and started buying my own waffles. They now contain no artificial flavors and their colors from natural sources.
From time to time, I might try pick up a box of Eggo Buttermilk waffles or another one of their tasty varieties but not without making sure there is a box of Eggo Homestyle in my cart when I pick up my groceries from Walmart. With Ibotta you can save on Eggo Homestyle and other tasty Eggo waffles when you Click to Earn Savings with Ibotta on Eggo® at Walmart.
So now that you know what dessert you are going to be feasting on, you need to find some people to feast with you. Yes, you could enjoy it alone but I have a rule that if Desserts are eaten in groups then the they are guilt free. I know there is no scientific proof behind this. However, I am a strong believer that when you eat desserts with family or friends, everyone is doing it so there is no need to feel guilty.
So hurry out and make plans with your family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and fitness buddies and get ready for dessert greatness. Yes, I did say fitness buddies! Trust me they like desserts too.
Once you know who will be coming to your dessert party, it is time to start planning. The base for the delicious Strawberry Shortcake Waffle or any tasty Waffle Sundae is the Eggo Homestyle Waffle. Plan on 2 waffles per person, so you are prepared if anyone wants seconds. Next, you need to select your dairy component.
Waffle Bars should have ice cream with this summer heat and Breyers® Natural Vanilla Ice Cream has a fresh flavor that will go well with any toppings your guests choose. Plus it is made with high quality ingredients, like fresh cream, sugar & milk from cows that are not treated with artificial growth hormones.
For your guests who are looking for a healthier alternative make sure you have delicious Greek yogurt. We love vanilla Greek yogurt and use it in desserts and as a healthy swap for sour cream, butter, and other fatty toppings in our cooking.
Next you want to make sure have a nice variety of toppings for your Eggo Waffle Bar. I like to offer the following variety of toppings:
- Pop-Tarts Frosted Strawberry
- Keebler Fudge Stripes Cookies
- Rainbow Sprinkles
- HERSHEY’S Classic Chocolate Syrup
- HERSHEY’S Strawberry Syrup
- Fresh Strawberries, Blackberries, and Blueberries
- Peter Pan® Peanut Butter
- Fresh Honey
- DOLE® Pineapple Tidbits
- Reddi-wip® Original Dairy Whipped Topping
The easiest way to display all this delicious dessert goodness for your friends and family is by creating an Eggo Waffle Bar. You can either cook the waffles before or let each guest toast their own. If they will be toasting their own, I suggest using a 4 slot toaster or having 2 toasters.
Arrange your toaster, plates, and waffles at the start of the Waffle Bar. Next place the ice cream and yogurt, followed by your toppings, don’t forget to add the Reddi-wip, and finally the sprinkles.
Guests will have a blast creating their own sundaes and seeing who comes up with the best waffle sundae. This is a fun way to bring everyone together to enjoy dessert. The Waffle Bar is perfect for any occasion from a family game night to a summer BBQ. Thanks to Eggo Homestyle Waffles you can skip hours in the kitchen and go right to the fun.
My favorite waffle creations is the Strawberry Shortcake Waffle. It starts with a warm Eggo Homestyle Waffle, then a huge spoonful of Vanilla Greek yogurt, this is all topped with some Pop Tarts Strawberry Frosted piece and fresh strawberry pieces, finally drizzle some HERSHEY’S Strawberry Syrup, and finish it off with Reddi-wip and rainbow sprinkles.

The juice bottles have reusable lids which are great for keeping the bugs out and writing names on so someone doesn’t lose a drink. Place a marker on the drink station for this purpose.
For the adults who are looking for a refreshing cold beverage to beat the heat provide Dunkin Donuts® Original Iced Coffee or Dunkin Donuts® Espresso Iced Coffee. This will satisfying their coffee craving and keep them cool on the hot summer days. It pairs perfectly with our Strawberry Shortcake Waffle other tasty creations from an Eggo Waffle Bar.

Tears I so wish I could eat this, it looks so yummy. Sadly being gluten-free and lactose-free I’d have to get a bit creative. Thank goodness Walmart also has some options.
Off to make my own… this is too mouthwatering on this hot summer day.
These are some great ideas. I’ve never thought about doing a waffle bar before. I like to host brunches with my friends, this would be a great idea to add to the menu.
