Recipe for Coffee Rubbed New York Steak
Ingredients
5 teaspoons paprika
4 teaspoons instant coffee
3 teaspoons sea salt or kosher salt
2 teaspoons chili powder
2 teaspoons Italian season
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
4 New York Strip Steaks
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
Directions
In a small bowl, combine the seasonings and mix well to insure that the flavors mingle together.
Remove steaks from refrigerator and let come to room temperature. (This is a great tip I learned, that has allowed me to cook great steaks just like the steakhouses.)
Rub the steaks with a generous amount of seasoning on both sides.
Heat a skillet over medium and once it is warm add the butter.
Once butter is melted, place steaks in skillet.
Cook steak 3 minutes per side, spooning melted butter on top of steak occasionally while cooking.
Remove from pan and let rest 5 minutes before cutting/serving.
**Cooking 3 minutes per side will give you a medium-rare steak, if you want it medium-well then cook 5 minutes per side.***
