I was given complimentary admission as part of a #BloggingBranson event. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
From Music to Comedy, Clay Cooper’s Country Express is a Must See Branson Show For All Ages
Last week, I shared with you about our adventures to Dolly Parton’s Stampede and this week we are going to share with you another Branson Show that blew us out of the water. Nothing I have ever experienced could have prepared me for the amazing time that we had at Clay Cooper’s Country Express. We went in expecting a musical show but were pleasantly surprised to discover that it was so much more than music.
While you are waiting for the main show to begin, the audience is treated to some comedy by the hilarious comedian Matt Gumm. This isn’t your ordinary comedy routine though, he enlists the help of four unsuspecting audience members to create his comedic magic. Within just a few minutes, the theatre was erupting in laughter.
This laughter continued throughout the night as Clay Cooper himself interacted with the audience, providing a feeling that you were hanging out in his living room for some Southern hospitality. After the show, we did a meet and greet with members of the show including Clay and his wife, Tina. Talking with them after the show cemented that feeling of Southern hospitality and it became clear that this is not an act he puts on for the show but is his true genuine personality. While we may have gotten a few extra minutes with the Coopers, this is something that every audience member can experience. Clay hangs out after the show to meet the audience.
Don’t believe me? Check out this video he made with our friends at the Stone Castle Hotel and Conference Center. You can also get a peek at suite him and his wife designed for the hotel. The Clay Cooper Suite is one you won’t soon forget.
Along with Clay and Tina, the show features 24 talented performers including Kari Garrison, male trio- Third Power, a live band, talented dancers, and the Cooper’s boys Colton and Caden.
Together this amazing cast of performers cover almost every music genre during the show from classic country to current hits and everything in between. The wide variety of music combines with visual effects to connect with all the audience members, regardless of their age. From the rows of teenagers to the seniors in the front row, there was not one person who was not actively engaged and entertained by the show.
During the show, I even sent clips to my teen daughter (who was at home) because there were so many things in the show that I knew she would love. She has requested that we return to Branson with her & take her to Clay Cooper’s Country Express. Since I can’t bring the show to you, I have two clips to share with you of these amazing performers.
One of my favorite parts of the show was during the second half. They performed songs from popular entertainers in a variety of music genres and decades. However, they didn’t just come out and sing them. They transformed themselves into these entertainers for a realistic experience you won’t quickly forget. This is not only an amazing tribute to those they are portraying but also to the talent that Clay and his cast of performers have.
The wide variety of music along with the comedy sprinkled throughout the show, truly make Clay Cooper’s Country Express a Branson show that will entertain the whole family. During the Christmas season, they mix up the show to include a special second half that is all Christmas. The Clay Cooper Theatre is not only home to their fantastic Branson show but also hosts several other musical shows and special events during the on & off season. You discover all the great shows by visiting the theater online here.
