Celebrate Halloween at Anakeesta
& The Legend of Hallow Mountain
Today marks the opening night of Gatlinburg’s newest Halloween event and we were given the opportunity to enjoy an early look at the festivities earlier this week. After a fun filled evening taking in the sites and sounds, we can’t wait to share with you why you will want to make sure you celebrate Halloween at Anakeesta and discover The Legend of Hallow Mountain.
This new Halloween event has something for everyone and includes kid-friendly fun as well as plenty of scares for those that like the spookier side of Halloween. This special event will take place on select nights and included with your admission to Anakeesta. These extended Halloween hours will take place every Friday and Saturday night in September, every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night in October, and the whole week of Halloween.
During the day, Anakeesta will offer family friendly crafts, games, activities, not-so-spooky character visits, and a variety of fall-inspired treats. These activities are in addition to everything Anakeesta already offers.Guests of all ages enjoy taking in the views on the Treetop Skywalk, where guests walk among the trees along an 800 feet long Skywalk that is made up of 15 skybridges suspended 50-60 feet above the ground. Kids of all ages enjoy letting their imagination run wild at the Treehouse Village Adventure, which includes an elevate bird’s nest, multiple tree houses connected by a plank walk, netting tube, and more.
Once the sun sets the Halloween fun begins with the transformation of the Treetop Skywalk into the new Firefly Forest. Here you will find yourself enchanted by the lights of thousands of “fireflies” while you enjoy a stroll through the forest. Little ones will love exploring the lit-up Treehouse Village for some after dark playtime. They can even enjoy mining for gems with the new Glow in the Dark Gem Mining (additional cost for this activity.)
For those that like to be scared, they will want to head on over to the Hallow Mountain Graveyard at Vista Gardens. This scare zone is only for ages 12 and up due to the intense and realistic scares that occur. Find out what has the Zombies crawling all over this mountainside and discover what the real Legend of Hallow Mountain is.
If thrills are your thing, then you will want to check out Anakeesta’s version of Zombie Zip-lining. Zip through the dark and rappel into depths of darkness with only a single beacon to guide you along your path. If zip-lining in the dark along a 3,000 feet long course with 70-foot drops isn’t scary enough, don’t get caught by the zombies lurking out in the dark just waiting for you to come along. ***
For those that like their thrills a little less scary, hop on board the Haunted Rail Runner Coaster and enjoy 1,600 feet of downhill twists with a 400 feet change in elevation at speeds up tof 25 MPH along the side of the mountain. ***
Looking for a little rest and relaxation? Then head on over to the Overlook Beer Garden to enjoy the night sky while watching a classic Halloween movie during the 25 nights of Outdoor Movies. Movies will include cult favorites like Frankenstein, Ghost Busters, Casper, and The Addams Family. Each night of the event has a different movie so repeat visits will offer you the opportunity to enjoy a new film outdoors.
Admission to Anakeesta includes transportation up to the top of the mountain via the Chondola or the new Ridge Rambler. The Chondola offers the option of riding up in a 4-person chair or an enclosed gondola with seating for 6. The Ridge Rambler is a military vehicle like no other and holds 45 passengers which offers a scenic guided tour as it drives you up the mountain.
Unlimited rides (up and down the mountain) are included in your admission to Anakeesta so if you want to head up in the morning to take advantage of the day time activities and then head back down to let the kids rest. Ride back up again in the evening to take celebrate Halloween at Anakeesta in the dark. I do recommend getting back up before the sun sets because it is amazing to watch the sky change as the sun goes down and the moon and stars take their place in the sky.
The views from Anakeesta are breath taking and there are a multitude of areas that provide for amazing photographs and plenty of seating available to just sit back and take it all in. A variety of dining options are available, including new fall treats so you don’t have to worry about going home hungry. The staff at Anakeesta have everything covered and can’t wait for you to enjoy all that the mountain has to offer.
