I was given complimentary admission as part of a #BloggingBranson event. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Branson Dinner Show: Escape to the Old West at Dolly Parton’s Stampede
I just returned from my first visit to Branson, Missouri and one of the first things we did was to attend the best Branson Dinner Show – Dolly Parton’s Stampede. How do I know it’s the best? Well they are celebrating their 25th anniversary in Branson and if that doesn’t tell you it’s great, then let me share with you what we discovered. See, it has always been a dream of mine to attend this dinner show but I couldn’t be prepared for what awaited me once we stepped inside. The experience, however, does not start inside but the moment you walk up to the impressive, mansion-esque building.
The grounds are decorated in true Dolly style with flowers gracing the walk ways and a beautiful floral butterfly inlaid in the lawn. The butterfly is the perfect place to grab a photo with your family and friends before the dinner show.
As you approach the entrance you are greeted by the 32 equine stars of the show. You will love getting to know the Quarter Horses and Palominos and be taken back by the beauty of the Appaloosa and Paint breeds. These stars are not only beautiful to look at but once the dinner show begins you are entranced by the grace and talent that they possess.

Once you step into the doors, you are surrounded by decor reminiscent of the Old West and life on the frontier. Don’t plan on arriving right when the show begins because you will miss out on one of the funny parts of the experience. Fifty minutes before the show begins, guests are invited to the pre-show by the White River Wranglers in the two-story carriage room. Guests of all ages will sing along with this trio as they entertain with their amazing voices in songs ranging from bluegrass to more modern hits like Baby Shark. You can also enjoy a delicious non-alcoholic drink in a fun souvenir mug, as well as snacks, during this time.
As soon as the pre-show is over, you are escorted into the impressive indoor arena which is 35,000 square feet. Don’t be worried about having a bad seat because the tiered arena seating assures every guest has a great seat. The wait staff is waiting for once you sit down and make short work of getting your beverages (unlimited tea, coffee, Coca-Cola®.) This is just the first time you will be impressed by the dining experience and quickly it becomes apparent why Dolly Parton’s Stampede is the best Branson dinner show.
Your four-course feast is served alongside the entertainment and is reminiscent of a meal they would have enjoyed on the trail out west. This feast is designed to be eaten with your hands, as they didn’t have silverware on the range, but recently they have added a fork to each place setting after listening to guest feedback. We gave up our fork as we wanted the full experience but do like that it is available for anyone who wants to use it. The four-course feast is comprised of the following:
- A Mouth-Watering Tender Whole Rotisserie Chicken
- Delicious Hickory Smoked Barbecued Pork Loin
- The Stampede’s Original Creamy Vegetable Soup
- Scrumptious Homemade Biscuit
- Hot Buttered Corn on the Cob
- Tasty Herb-basted Potato
- The Stampede’s very own Specialty Dessert (Flaky, “Melt in Your Mouth” Apple Pastry”
Those with dietary restrictions can be accommodated as long as you notify them when you make your reservations. They offer a delicious four-course vegetarian and gluten free feast.
While you are enjoying your feast, the show is taking place on the arena floor. In a classic North versus South challenge, riders and cast compete in western themed events like horse racing, pig chases, wagon races, and more while thrilling audiences with amazing stunts, breath taking feats, awe-inspiring choreography, and song. All of this tells the story of the Old West from the beginning to when settlers arrived from the East to make it their home.
The show is mesmerizing and on more than one occasion I caught myself not eating because I was wrapped up in the show. To help provide context to what is happening, the show is directed by an MC who functions as the “Trail Master” for the show. Try as she might, she cannot stop being interrupted by the loveable Skeeter. He is determined to get his 15 minutes of fame and his comedy act brings a funny side to the show that most guests are not expecting.
This is not the only unexpected thing you will discover in the show because along with the 32 horses are 6 buffalo, a dozen racing pigs, 4 long horn, and a flock of chickens. Some other features to note are the following:
- 12.5 million LED Light Wall Backdrop
- Special Effects
- Foot-Stomping Music
- Magic Tricks
- Audience Participation
As if the show was not amazing enough, our show ended a little different than most. Our lovely MC was proposed to in a real-life engagement and we got to witness the special moment. I was able to catch most of it and have the video clip for you to enjoy below. Seeing the genuine excitement for the couple from the everyone at the show, enhanced the experience. We left with not only the memories of a wonderful meal but of a timeless Branson dinner show that captivated us from start to finish.
After just one visit, it was easy to see why families return year after year to enjoy this Branson dinner show. The memories that are made cannot be manufactured elsewhere and create stories that can be told over and over again. If you want something tangible to remember the experience by, make sure to stop off in the guest shop for a variety of souvenirs from t-shirts, stuffed horses, and more. Our favorite thing to collect is Pressed Pennies and you will find an old-fashioned hand-cranked Penny Press inside the gift shop. These are an inexpensive souvenir that provide a unique, retro way to remember the experience.
Now that you see why Dolly Parton’s Stampede is the best Branson Dinner Show, the only thing left is for you to make your reservations for this scrumptious, entertaining show.
