Black Bean Hummus & Pita Chips are a Tasty After School Snack
We are starting our fourth week of school today and I can’t believe that it has been that long. This school year has brought us new challenges as my daughter went back to public school after being home-schooled for several years. One of the big things we are learning to adjust to is meals and snacks. When she was home-schooled meals were on demand during the day but now that she is in school she has to eat at certain times. Unfortunately, for her she has an early lunch so by the time she gets out of school she is starving and looking for something to eat. I don’t want her resorting to junk food so I try to have healthy snack options available. One of our favorite recipes is an easy Black Bean Hummus.
One of the best things about this Black Bean Hummus recipe is that it can be prepared on the weekend and enjoyed snacked on after school all week. We love to spend time together in the kitchen and usually make it together. However, the recipe is simple enough that she can do it herself if I am not around to help.
Since every after school snack needs a drink, I keep a variety of her favorites on hand. Most days she heads for the Coca-Cola™ mini cans but I make sure that we are stocked up with DASANI® water bottles, and Gold Peak® tea for when those cravings kick in. Plus they are a great variety of beverages when having friends over for studying or just hanging out after school.
