4 Reasons I Love Back to School
While many parents are busy sending their children off to school in August and September, myself and others are settling in to spend extra time with our children. That is because we have opted to homeschool our children. I realize that this is not an option for everyone and it is a very personal choice but it is a choice that changed the way I look at Back to School time. Normally every Summer I counted down the days till I could send my daughter back to school and have alone time but now I count down till the day I get to have extra one on one time with no interruptions. So now that our schooling method has changed the Reasons I Love Back to School has changed as well.
4 Reasons I Love Back To School
Structure – Although the lazy days of summer are fun for a while, it is nice to be organized and back on track with bed times and set schedules for things. It helps everyone stay organized and on top of things when expectations are in place. I also like being able to assign tasks and know that there is an expected time to have it accomplished.
Learning- While teaching my daughter, I always end up learning new things and I love discovering things right along side her. Sometimes it is re-learning thing I already knew or seeing something thru her eyes that sheds new light on a topic. It breathes fresh air into a boring day and helps keep my brain alert and alive.
One on One Time – One of the best things about homeschooling is the one on one time I get to spend with my daughter. From teaching her lessons, to helping her with problems, and going on field trips I get to spend these formative years with her. I missed out on the early years when I was working but I feel like I get to make up for it now. She also gets to spend time with me without the interruption of emails, phone calls, or other people because school comes first. It allows us to take dedicated time together.
New Experiences – Each new year brings new experiences and new things. We never know what we are going to come out like at the end. As much as I don’t love the process of change I love seeing the benefit of change when all is said and done. I like to enjoy new experiences and find what we can draw from them and use in our every day lives. Sometimes it isn’t much but other times it can be life altering information.
These are all the Reasons I Love Back To School and look forward to this time of year.
