Stone Braide Chronicles – Lightning Book Review
I received a copy of the book for free from Family Christian. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I am always looking for good books to read and share with my daughter. She is a reluctant reader and often finding a book that keeps her interest is hard. I had read Thunder (the 1st book in the Stone Braide Chronicles) last year and was excited to see that Bonnie Calhoun had released her second book in the Stone Braide Chronicles, Lightning. I was excited to find out where Selah’s life had taken her and get caught up in the adventures that I had loved in the first book.
Lighting Story Synopsis
The second book in the Stone Braide Chronicles brings new challenges for Selah. She thinks that finding her father will bring her peace in her life and make her feel more settled. As it turns out, she is wrong and the horrors have just begun. Selah must now fight the battles of nature and struggle to survive those in the Mountain who want to see her dead.
I was immediately drawn back into Selah’s world and find myself routing for her to overcome the obstacles in her way, once again. This book has more action and less romance than in the first book, which helps keep the pace of the book going. I do not like to give away too many details about the story because I want readers to experience the action and excitement for themselves. Bonnie Calhoun has once again created a wonderful story in the dystopian genre with Lightning. I do feel that it would help to read the first book,Thunder, so that certain aspects of the story are not confusing. We will definitely be adding this book to my daughter’s reading list this year. I find that having her take notes while she is reading is helpful when we discuss the story and work on book reports.
Find out where the Stone Braide Chronicles begins by reading the 1st book in the series, Thunder.
