Michigan Dining Adventures to Zingerman’s Roadhouse
One of our last stops on our Michigan Adventures was to Zingerman’s Roadhouse in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Roadhouse is the seventh Zingerman’s business to open. Each Zingerman’s Community of Businesses features its own food specialty and are located in the Ann Arbor area. The Roadhouse opened in 2003 and is known for their array of American foods that are sourced all across America. If you are unsure what something may taste like before you order, they will let you taste a sample so you can decide if it was you really want. This is a great advantage when trying new dishes or introducing children to new tastes.
Zingerman’s Roadhouse has a large menu and offers different specials daily. We arrived during their lunch rush and it was very clear that this is the go to place in the Ann Arbor area. We didn’t have to wait long as I had pre-arranged my visit. This was nice since we had my niece with us and the car seat is a little heavy. Our waiter greeted us promptly and presented the menus to us. On top of the lunch menu, they also offered a cheese menu and an oyster menu. I am not a big oyster fan but I love cheese so the cheese menu was the perfect way to start the meal. You can create your own cheese board or select from their cheeseboard parings. We went with one of their parings because I could not decide on which cheese to order. They did have a description with each but there were just too many to choose from. The cheese board comes with toasted bagel slices and a bunch of grapes cooked with balsamic vinegar.
While we were waiting on our cheeseboard, they brought us a delicious basket of fresh baked bread, still warm from the oven. If there is a food I love as much as cheese, it is fresh baked bread. It was
While we were deciding on our entrees we also decided to order the Real Chesapeake Bay Crab Cakes. These were some of the most delicious crab cakes I have ever eaten. They don’t come overly garnished but they were so tasty that they didn’t last on the plate long. We each ordered a different entree. My daughter had the Burger Blue Plate Special with Bacon and Gruyere Cheese. Her burger also came with a salad and hand-cut, twice cooked fries.
I enjoyed the Blackened Whitefish with spinach and local mashed potatoes.
My mother satisfied her appetite with the BBQ Pork Entree which came with local mashed potatoes and bacon braised greens.
We were too full from all the tasty food we had eaten that we didn’t order dessert but Zingerman’s Roadhouse makes all their own desserts and has an enticing dessert menu. If you have room, you will want to order one of their tantalizing desserts. You can also taste Zingerman’s delicious desserts at their Bakehouse.
I will be visiting Zingerman’s Roadhouse again the next time I am in Michigan and will try to take out some time to visit their other locations in the Ann Arbor area.
