Michigan Adventures to LEGOLAND Discovery Center
While we were visiting Family in Michigan, we had the opportunity to attend the ribbon cutting of LEGOLAND Discovery Center. This new location in Michigan is located at Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn Hills. LEGOLAND was designed with kids in mind and adults must be accompanied by a child to enter. However, they do host special adult only nights for those who wish to check out the place without kids. Make sure to keep your eyes open for Brick and grab a picture with your favorite LEGO guy.
Once the ribbon cutting ceremony was over, we were allowed to explore the Discovery Center. As you enter the center you walk thru a cutout of a LEGO® Minifigure. As you continue on inside your first stop is the LEGO Factory Tour. This is an interactive exhibit which allows visitors to help factory workers through each stage of the LEGO brick process.
After your LEGO Factory Tour, you encounter the Kingdom Quest Laser Ride. This is a fun ride which has riders on a mission to save the Princess that has been captured by the trolls and skeletons. Riders in each chariot compete to see who can get the highest score. The better you aim your laser the higher your score. I will say that it was a close game but this mom won.
After the Kingdom Quest Laser Ride you head into MINILAND. There you will discover iconic Metro Detroit attractions and favorite local buildings. This was really cool to see these favorite locations in miniature scale. You can watch Metro Detroit come to life with interactive displays, touch screens and sound effects. The light also changes in the room from day to night. The night mode is complete with a visual fireworks display on the walls.
Check out this fun video we shot of the interactive aspects in MINILAND.
Once you explore MINILAND you end up at a central hub of LEGOLAND Discovery Center. There you will find the cafeteria, bathrooms, a quiet/nursing room and several more fun attractions/activities.
The attractions you will find here include LEGO Racers:Build & Test, Merlin’s Apprentice Ride, LEGO City:Play Zone, LEGO Model Builder Academy, Earthquake Tables, LEGO Friend: Olivia’s House, LEGO DUPLO Farm, and the LEGO 4D Cinema.
Once you are done having a fun filled visit to LEGOLAND Discovery Center, make sure to check out all the great items for sale in the in the Discovery Center Shop.

I do recommend pre-purchasing your tickets as only so many people are allowed to enter at a time to control congestion. When pre-purchasing you pick a specific date and time for your visit and are guaranteed entry at that time.
When you are at Great Lakes Crossing visiting LEGOLAND Discovery Center, you can also visit SEA LIFE Aquarium and save buy purchasing a combo ticket for both attractions.
