Family Pizza Night at Dazzo’s Pizzeria – Restaurant Review

Since moving to East Tennessee, we have been searching for a fantastic pizza place. We have had “Good” pizza but nothing that reminded us of the pizza we used to enjoy back home. During a food tour with Knoxville Food Tours, this summer we discovered Dazzo’s Pizzeria. Dazzo’s Pizzeria is a locally owned pizzeria in downtown Knoxville. They focus on fresh, homemade food and source all their ingredients locally whenever possible. This is a focus that is important to owner, Martha Boggs, who also owns Bistro at the Bijou.

We couldn’t belive that we had lived in the area for over a year and had never experienced their amazing food. We talked about the food for weeks after we discovered Dazzo’s, so it was the obvious choice when we were deciding where to dine for a recent Family Pizza Night.

Dazzo’s Pizzeria doesn’t just specialize in pizza, they have a full menu which includes appetizers, salads, pizzas, pastas and hero sandwiches. All of the sauces for their pizza and pastas are made in house and you can taste the quality that comes from fresh ingredients. On our recent family pizza night we couldn’t settle on just one thing so we each ordered something different so we could try more of their menu.  We did however agree on starting with their Garlic Knots. These are best garlic knots that I have ever eaten and could be a meal all on their own.

The Antipasto Salad was made fresh and the creamy Italian dressing provided the perfect balance without overpowering.

My daughter selected the pizza, and choose to create her own Hawaiin on a Hand Tossed Crust. She picked the Neopalitin Sauce (which is one of four sauces that they offer.) The pizza dough is made fresh daily and provides a light crispy crust. It was even delicious when we reheated the leftovers.

My husband took a lighter approach and chose the Classic Italian Hero. It is served cold with an oil vinegaratte. It is not a heavy dressing and adds a great flavor to the hero sandwich. It comes served with a bag of potato chips.

I lucked out and was able to snag the last Famous Manicotti. This manicotti was unlike any I have ever had and I credit that to the hand made crepes that are used to create the manicotti. The ricotta that filled the manicotti blended with the marinara sauce and mozzarella to create the perfect flavor combination.

We were glad that we choose Dazzo’s Pizzeria for Family Pizza Night. The prices are reasonable for the quality of food and we love supporting local businesses. To see all the great menu items they have to offer, make sure to visit them online at Dazzo’s Pizzeria
