Blogger Bash Coffee Talk | Hi My Name Is….

Disclaimer: I just want to add a disclaimer that I had my post all written when I found out that I would not be able to attend Blogger Bash. My Father In Law was diagnosed with Small Cell Carcinoma of the Lung and will begin Chemotherapy on Wednesday (just one day before Blogger Bash) and continue thru Friday. I am his primary care giver and cannot imagine leaving him in Michigan while I head to NYC. So I while I will not be with you in person,I will be with you in Spirit and Social Media. I expect to see lots of Tweets and Instagram pics. With that in mind, I still want to get to know everyone and decided to keep my post scheduled as planned because one day someday, we will be together! Thanks for stopping by and wanting to learn a little about me.

1. Name and 2. Where are you from?

Gwendolyn, but I also go by Gwen, mom, honey, hey you, miss, dear, mam and some not so nice ones we will just leave out. Oh yea, I also have been called “Pen-Gwen” a million times so NO you are not the first person to come up with it, Sorry! I live in Michigan where I was born and raised. I have lived here my entire live even though I dream of living down south at some point, like Kentucky or Tennessee.

3. How long have you been blogging? and 4. What is the meaning behind your blog name?

I have been blogging since the fall of 2011 but just recently (June 2014) took the plunge and started my own site. This one you are on right now. I struggled with a name for my new blog for a long time because I wanted something that was unique but personal to my family not just myself. My husband was of no help because he liked everything I came up with, I have trained him too well. I just kept praying on it and the Lord gave me the name and it totally fits my family and my life. There is always something going on and there is never a dull moment. To be honest, I am writing this post at 5 AM (I am not up early, I have not gone to bed.) I joke that if my life was “normal” I would be bored and not know what to do. So “Finding Sanity In Our Crazy Life” was born and each day I keep looking but I haven’t found it. If you do, I just ask you send it my way, PLEASE!  This isn’t the only site I write for though, somehow in the craziness I also write and manage a travel blog – Vacation Maybe.

5. What are you most looking forward to at Blogger Bash?

The thing I am most looking forward to at Blogger Bash is new experiences. I suffer from extreme anxiety so getting out and doing new things can be a challenge for me so when I set my mind to do something,  I like to soak it all in and take advantage of everything. Last year, BlogHer, was the first time I traveled without my husband and it gave me the courage to do it again. I have never been to NYC and that alone is a big step for me. Being able to say I did that is a huge accomplishment in itself. To be able to meet new bloggers and brands and connect with those I know online IRL is going to be amazing. It is also going to give me a chance to grow by blog and myself. What more could a girl ask for in two days.

6. What three words describe you the best?

I don’t know that there are three words to describe me and I am sure if you ask my husband he will have different answers than I do. I will try my best, so here goes : Wife, Mother, Daughter

7. Got kids? How many?

Yes, I have kids and I assume we aren’t counting husbands so then I only have 2. I have a 15 year old step-son (He was 3 1/2 when we met) and a 10 year old daughter. They both are amazing and have taught me so many things as a mother. I could not imagine my life without either of them.

8. We all have a pet peeve. What is your #1?

I have a lot of pet peeves, just ask my family. Seriously, as funny as this sounds my #1 pet peeve is “Stupid People”. Depending on the day the list of Stupid People will change. Yes, I know that this is a really weird pet peeve but I make the list and if I had my way I would have an island where I could send these “Stupid People.” I must admit one day, I deemed myself one of these people and banished myself to this make believe island. Let me remind you of my site name “Finding Sanity in my Crazy Life” – I never said I was Sane.

9. If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?

I am sure that most people think long and hard and come up with a deep theoretical answer about some philosopher or deceased relative but you won’t find that here. Not that it wouldn’t be cool or I don’t miss those that have passed because I do every day but because the ones I want to sit down with are the ones I do as often as possible. I would eat dinner with my whole extended family. This includes all my siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, nephews, and friends. Just like when my grandmother was alive and holidays were always overflowing with more people than we knew what to do with. Food, conversation and fun flowed from every corner but now it seems everyone is in a hurry and no one wants to take the time. They all go their own ways or are too busy to care when they are present only in body not in spirit.

So sorry to hear about your father, prayers and thoughts to you. I would have made the same decision to stay with him as well. Hugs.

Awesome get to know you post! I am so sorry to hear about your dad and know that you made the right choice to stay and take care of him. I know that everyone will miss you, but this is more important!

You should add “devoted” to #6! Staying home from Blogger Bash due to your father-in-laws illness is quite admirable. Blogger Bash will still be here next year, he may not, so you will not regret your decision to stay home with him and your family.

Just dropped in to check out your site and because of this post, got to know a little more about you! So sorry to hear about your father in law and your change of plans. Praying for him and strength for you as you stay back to care for him. I’m part of your MI bloggers facebook group and look forward to connecting more in the future with all the local girls!
