5 Reasons to Take a Food Tour For a Girl’s Day
Since moving to East Tennessee, I haven’t connected with other bloggers in the area and it was something I wanted to do. I was trying to come up with the perfect event when I remember how much fun my husband and I had last year when we discovered Knoxville’s food scene with East TN Tours. You can read and see our experience here. I reached out to Lauren (the owner and tour guide) at East TN Tours and she agreed that it would be the perfect girl’s day out. Several bloggers agreed and we set a date to take in all the culinary treasures in Downtown Knoxville. The afternoon was a wonderful time of food, conversation, and culture. I enjoyed myself so much, I wanted to share with you my top 5 reasons that a food tour is perfect for a girl’s day. Check out these reasons below and enjoy the delicious sights and eats that we enjoyed. If you want to learn more about East Tn Tours, check out what the other bloggers thoughts at the bottom.
5 Reasons to take your girls on a Food Tour
Discover a variety of food and restaurants in just a few hours. When you are on limited time and want to try all that an area has to offer from a culinary view then a food tour is the perfect choice. On our tour we sampled local restaurants that offered scrumptious cuisine. Some of the locations were off of the beaten path and as a visitor to the city you may not know they existed. For locals you are able to scout out new favorite spots and get a glimpse at what they have to offer.
It is perfect for all ages and appetites. The variety of restaurants that you visit insures that everyone will have a great time. The walking is slow enough between locations that you are not rushing and allows even older guests to enjoy their stroll between the meal. The food is varied from each location so you can be sure that everyone will find something to eat.
Learn about the history of the area. Taking a food tour does not mean that you will just enjoy food. Your tour guide will share information about the area around the restaurants and let you know fun and information historical facts. It is nice to learn more about an area you are visiting while you are experiencing that location. Lauren at East Tn Tours has historical pictures she shares with her guests which help to truly see what the area looked like in the past. It is great leaving with a knowledge of the area and why things are the way they are.
There is always something new and fresh. Even if you have taken a food tour in the area before you will always discover something new. Restaurants menu change and food tours often switch up the stops on the tour. This allows you to try new items, seasonal favorites, and discover new places. Even walking on the food tour provided new views because Knoxville has rotating art exhibits downtown. Finding the new pieces is one of my favorite things to do.
Relax and enjoy each other’s company without worrying about preparing or cleaning up. This is my favorite reason because no one wants to spend hours cooking and cleaning when someone else can do it for you. Taking a food tour means you can eat and drink without lifting a finger in preparation. No one has to worry about having their house ready or sending their family away so the girls can come over. They do all the cooking and cleaning, you just have to show up and enjoy. I also like that you can rotate between each restaurant who you walk with and sit with so you can make sure to visit with everyone in a relaxing way.
These are my top 5 reasons for considering a food tour when planning a girl’s day and completely appreciated each of these on our recent food tour with East Tn Tours. It was a great afternoon getting to know my fellow bloggers and exploring new restaurants I hadn’t tried before. I have already made my list of “date night” ideas for hubby and these restaurants are on the list.

I would take a food tour any day of the week. Checking out new food options around town sounds like my kind of day!
Food tours are always a great way to bond together. They are great opportunites to not only taste a wide range of food, but also delve deep into the history and culture of a place. The food of a place is always a window to its heritage and culture.
All the food looked delicious! A food tour is always fun and I haven’t done this in a while.
I’m so glad you got to meet up with other bloggers and taste great food! It sound like you really enjoy your new surroundings.
I really love this idea. I can think of places in my general area that I’d love to explore and never have. And I’m loving the idea of a girls day out.
LOVE this idea. It looks like it was fun and delicious. I see that they have this in your town, but I’m wondering if it’s offered in other places too.
I love food tours. They are a great way to get the feeling of a city. I haven’t been to Knoxville in ages, but I don’t live far from it.
Heck yes! I am ALL about food, so I’d be happy with a food tour. I’m going to do one soon.
Oh yum yes please, I am all for getting to take a food tour for the day, amazing to see all the different foods you can get as well as explore a new place.
You will never have to convince me to take a food tour. I love food anyway you can give it to me. It would be really fun to take a food tour with the girls. What a great idea.
This is such a great idea for a girls day. My girlfriends and I would love to do something like this.
A food tour would be great to do while walking around and being able to see the sights. I would add in a couple of places to check out the local brews!
